Church Leadership

God has entrusted the leadership of the local church to pastors/elders and deacons. Pastors/Elders handle the primary leadership and spiritual oversight, and are assisted by deacons in this task. It is the conviction of Redemption Church that the New Testament pattern for church to be led by a plurality of pastors/elders. As a new church plant, until we are able to raise up qualified men for this task, a Pastoral Advisory Council of outside pastors will provide informal accountability, wisdom, and practical support to the leadership of Redemption Church. Pastors/Elders are men who meet the biblical qualifictions given in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Their primary responsibilities are to teach God’s Word, lead by giving spiritual oversight, model by getting a godly example in their manner of living, and pray regularly for the members and ministry of the church.
Deacons are men and women who meet the biblical qualifications given in 1 Timothy 3:8-13. These individuals serve the church by overseeing specific ministry areas and practical needs that may arise in the life of the church.
Until Redemption Church is able to be governed by a plurality of qualified, local elders, a Pastoral Advisory Council will function to provide accountability, wisdom, and practical support to the leadership of Redemption Church. This will be comprised of six outside, but local pastors.
